Action Plan to boost Tourism

Every effort will be made to take advantage of the awe and curiosity that India inspires amongst people all over the world, said Ms. Ambika Soni, Union Minister for Tourism. The minister was addressing media persons in New Delhi. The diversified culture, world heritage sites, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks and the great variety from the mighty Himalayan Mountains to the deserts of Rajasthan to the wonderful beaches and islands of the country would be promoted, the minister said.

The minister directed the officials to workout an effective 'Plan of Action' for tourism growth and employment generation. The ministry would interact with other Ministries like External Affairs, Civil Aviation, Home, Health, Railways, Shipping, Road Transport & Highways and the State Governments. The minister also called for better coordination with the ministries to sustain the high rate of growth in the tourism sector.
