Following her maiden visit to Kerala recently after assuming the office of the President of India, Ms. Prathiba Patil, the first woman President of India had words of praise after her experience in Kerala. It began with the dinner hosted in her honour on the day of her arrival to Kerala at the Mascot Hotel, the five-star hotel under the Kerala Tourism development Corporation (KTDC). After thoroughly enjoying some of the Kerala delicacies at the dinner, the president during the course of her subsequent programmes in Kerala found its natural beauty truly outstanding. The president’s visit to Kovalam beach in Thiruvananthapuram, where she spent a very delightful evening, and savoured every bit of its beauty, eventually prompted her to say Kovalam as the most beautiful beach stretch, she has ever seen. The president also went on to give a suggestion for travelers from north India to make Kerala as a choice destination, during their peak summer months, when they move out to places like Hyderabad in search of cooler weather conditions.
